Shooting of the feature film MONTE VERITÀ began in Ticino at the end of August and is currently being continued at MMC Studios in Cologne.
The historical drama of the Swiss director Stefan hunter based on the screenplay by Kornelija Naraks is considered the first feature film about the first "hippie commune" in the world.
About the film: The dropouts were looking for paradise at the beginning of the 20th century and found it in the south of Switzerland on the famous Monte Verità. Here they lived a progressive, zeitgeisty and vegan life, shedding not only their clothes but also the mental corset that threatened to suffocate society.
The film poses the still topical question of how much self-determination a woman is allowed to set in her life without being criticized by society.
MONTE VERITÀ is a historical drama that could not be more modern. It tells the story of mother of two Hanna Leitner (Maresi Riegner), who shortly after the founding of the sanatorium takes the journey from Vienna to the south of Switzerland to escape her bourgeois role and her husband, who sexually harasses her.
In therapy with the young psychoanalyst Otto Gross (Max Hubacher), she soon realizes what her deep fears are based on. However, she also senses that the respected doctor has a secret. He himself is a patient on the mountain to recover from his drug addiction.
Torn between feelings of guilt towards her family and fascination for the life of the reformers, Hanna overcomes her initial resistance and discovers photography.
Besides the young Hermann Hesse (Joel Basman), the dancer Isadora Duncan and the founder of Monte Verità Ida Hofmann (Julia Jentsch) - it is especially Lotte Hattemer (Hannah Herzsprung), the daughter of the mayor of Berlin, who challenges Hanna to become aware of her own voice. But Lotte wants to depart from life.
Hanna, who is torn between the longing to return to her family healed and the desire to realize herself as an artist, has to make a decision...
Shooting is in Ticino, Italy, Vienna and currently at the MMC Studios in Cologne.
